ALT−C Systems announces TimeTrends® e−Forecasting module

MONTREAL - August 12, 1999 -

ALT−C Systems, Inc. of Montreal, Quebec, Canada announces the release of the TimeTrends® e−Forecasting module. Corporate users can now benefit from improved customer service, better purchasing/replenishment decisions and reduced inventory levels by receiving forecast/demand planning information on a real-time basis. Users can connect to their central forecast database from anywhere, using an Internet connection. Virtually no training is required, and the module can be used with only a very basic computer with modem and Internet browser.

Forecasting & Demand planning is a crucial aspect of supply chain execution and enterprise planning systems. With traditional systems, geographically remote users could not easily supply forecast information to a central planning location. With TimeTrends e−Forecasting, forecast information is received on a more timely basis, and crucial planning decisions that affect profitability can be more effectively made. Management review and communication is greatly improved.

The TimeTrends e−Forecasting module allows users to edit a TimeTrends Forecast Warehouse database using a standard Internet browser. This solution utilizes Microsoft Windows® NT Server to host the central database. Data is shared with remote users using Internet Information Server. A dedicated server is not required. Client machines require a minimum of Windows® 95 or Windows® 98, as well as an Internet browser and connection.

ALT−C Systems is a leading provider of turnkey forecasting system installations for mission-critical enterprise environments. TimeTrends provides a state-of-the-art solutions for forecast creation and management. It complies with Open Data Systems standards, utilizing ODBC-compliant database formats. A multi-user system written entirely with 32-bit code in Visual C++, TimeTrends is fully Y2K-compliant. TimeTrends interfaces with most leading ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, data warehouses, scheduling or simulation systems, based on various platforms including AS/400, mainframe and UNIX, using either ASCII text or ODBC transfers. It is used in process, repetitive, and make-to-stock environments in industries such as automotive, beverage, chemical/pharmaceutical, food, electronics, industrial, textile and more. It is also used to forecast parts replacement in MRO (Maintenance & Repair) environments.
